Sharing heritage and heart through farm fresh bouquets.

I’ve enjoyed flowers all my life. My mother and mother-in-law both loved the simple elegance flowers added to their homes. They enjoyed seeing the smiles on the faces of friends and neighbors when they dropped by for a visit with a bouquet in hand. Both women took joy in their gardens and passed along the desire to bring beauty to the world through flowers.

Prairie Field was started out of an interest in learning more about what would grow in our North Central Kansas climate and soil. I had a well-developed garden in my backyard and shared many of my flowers with friends and neighbors while they were in season. Soon, I wanted to add to my garden so I would have more to share.

I spent months researching and developing lists of possible flowers. I purchased new seeds to experiment with new textures and colors. The first spring, my husband and I tilled part of the farmstead we’d used for vegetables for my experiments. I was amazed by the success and kept expanding with new flowers.

Of course, all this research meant more bouquets for my friends and neighbors. Prairie Field bouquets come from the flowers of my garden as well plantings at my mother-in-law’s home place and scavenging the wildflowers throughout our farmland.

Watching the field of flowers grow, harvesting and preparing bouquets brings me joy. But, nothing is as fulfilling as seeing the joy on the faces of those who receive my bouquets to brighten their homes and offices.
